The Cove Tasmania
Mesmerising View!
From the moment you arrive at The Cove, near Devonport, you just cannot take your eyes away from the stunning view. We had the luxury of enjoying two nights at Villa Two Five Six and the magnificent floor to ceiling windows gave us plenty of vantage points to study the gorgeous vista.
The Cove has a range of accommodation options and our generous and friendly hosts showed us around the other cabins before we headed to the villa. The other accommodation is nestled into the top of the cliff and has a breathtaking view across Bass Strait. The cabins have shared cooking and lounge facilities and these were absolutely first class - an abundance of timber, cosy lounges and beanbags and everything sparkling clean and neat. We would happily stay here! One of the new A-frame cabins is fully accessible with a compliant bathroom. The end clifftop cabin would be suitable too as it has a spacious bathroom and bedroom. We would choose this one for our next stay. The photos below are at the cabins/shared spaces.
The bed is also a great height for accessibility and the mattress can be shifted to wherever suits best for transfer.
The kitchen space is open and provides all you need to cook a meal as far as utensils and appliances goes. There is a basic pantry with oil, sauces, salt, flour and sugar as well as breakfast provisions. There are delicious pastries in the freezer to heat for breakfast and these went very well with the pod coffee.

The table is designed well for wheelchairs as one side has chairs rather than a bench which make it flexible. Every morning the sun steamed through the windows
The open lounge space includes a comfortable couch and two reclining chairs. There is a spirit heater for ambience. There are blinds on every window and these are controlled by remote. We closed the blinds at times to manage the sun. At night it was great to leave the blinds open to look at the stars.
The bathroom is a huge and gorgeous space. There is an indoor bath with the most incredible view! The bathroom is very wheelchair friendly and has plenty of bench space and drawers.
Surrounding the villa are paddocks full of animals from the working farm - cows, alpacas and a miniature horse. There are also cheeky little blue wrens which visit regularly.
There are farm and penguin tours which can be booked through The Cove. There is also a local free penguin viewing just two minutes down the road. These sessions are run by local guides who are very knowledgeable. It was great to see the little penguins and their fluffy chicks. It was not too crowded and was the best penguin viewing we have attended.
At the villa, he courtyard space is quiet and has a barbeque, a large outdoor setting, a sun lounge, a fire pit and an outdoor bath.
The front deck is a magical place to sit and read and enjoy a glass of wine. The glass wall behind the couch provides a warm shelter from the breeze and is a very comfortable spot to spend a sunny afternoon. We spent a large amount of time trying to spot a whale with the supplied binoculars - with no luck, sadly.
The Cove is staffed by friendly people who provide a warm welcome and take care of every need. There is an honesty bar down at the main accommodation and some snack items are available for purchase as well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay - it was relaxing and peaceful. The villa was equipped to cater for every need and was a beautiful, spacious and luxurious environment to rejuvenate and relax.
The hosts are keen to make sure that their accommodation is accessible and inclusive. The villa was a great wheelchair friendly space.
