Bay of Fires Apartments

 St Helens Holiday Bliss

At the end of the school holidays we decided to book a four day break at St Helens as we had not visited that gorgeous part of Tasmania for about ten years.  Last time we stayed our accommodation was in Binalong Bay but this trip we capitalised on a Luxury Escapes deal and stayed in the heart of St Helens at Bay of Fires Apartments. When we were booking we were so impressed to see that the Bay of Fires Apartments website actually tells you which suite is wheelchair accessible - this makes it SOOOOO much easier.  I wish all accommodation sites would do the same.  The owner of the accommodation was also fantastic in her communication to make sure that everything was okay for our stay, including ensuring there was a suitable shower chair in the bathroom.

When we arrived for our three night stay we followed the directions for self-check in which we had been emailed.  It was an easy process and we were very happy with our beautiful room.  It was spacious and beautifully decorated.

I loved the way the cushions and paintings in the room reflect the gorgeous Bay of Fires beach colours. There was also a theme of the sea in the furnishings.  The huge king sized bed was extremely comfortable as were the high backed chairs.

The moment you walked in the room you could smell the lovely lily(yes it is real!) and this scented the room over the time of our stay.  A very nice touch!  We also appreciated the coffee machine, although we didn't get to use it much as the coffee at the restaurant(Raida) downstairs was just too convenient :-)

Inside the bar fridge was a wonderful hamper, full of goodies from the providore in the same building as the apartments.  The hamper came as part of the Luxury Escapes deal.  We were very impressed with the quality of the food included.  We decided to take our hamper for a picnic lunch to one of the numerous beaches in the area and ended up having a lovely day soaking up the sun, blue sky and glorious white sand.
Here is our hamper which included bubbles, cheese, prosciutto, chocolate and crackers:

I didn't get a photo of the bathroom but it was spacious and lovely.  John was very happy with the set up as far as accessibility goes(and he is fussy!!)  Other rooms have spa baths I believe.

Overall, we were very impressed with the location, room, communication and accessibility provided by Bay of Fires Apartments.  It was walking distance to great restaurants in St Helens and also was close to the waterfront and the wonderful walking/biking track which follows the waterfront for quite a distance.  The apartment felt like a quiet, cosy little oasis to relax in when you were finished taking in the beauty of the local area.  We ate at three local establishments and there will be reviews for these under the Restaurants we Love section!
