Frogmore Lounge

 The Lounge by Frogmore Creek

A group of friends recently spent a lazy Sunday afternoon discussing travel plans, sipping wine and nibbling on delicious treats at The Lounge by Frogmore Creek.  It is conveniently located at the waterfront in Hobart.   Frogmore Lounge is a beautiful setting with water views and luxurious furnishings.   Service was friendly and attentive. With the sun shining outside there was a hint of the summer months ahead, making us all keen to talk about our future travels together.

We started with a cocktail(an aperol spritz for most of us which brought to mind warm days in Italy!) and then moved on to some bubbles and red wine. We decided some nibbles were needed and selected a cheese platter, a charcuterie plate and some poppers from the menu.  We were seated at a large round table which was excellent for both conversation and space for drinks/food.  There is something fabulous about sitting at a round table - it is so inclusive!

When the cheese and charcuterie platters arrived it was pleasing to see that they were on stacked platters such as you would have for a high tea.  This was very clever in terms of use of space and also for passing things conveniently to each other.

There was a lovely selection of cheeses, along with some pickled vegetables and grilled bread(yum!).

The charcuterie plate included three types of meat, pickled vegetables and grilled bread.  There was plenty for all six of us.

The poppers were deep fried green chillies.  The seeds were left in but they didn't have a lot of heat.  Every now and then someone would get a spicy bite, increasing the sense of fun when eating them.

The Lounge is a large space n the MACq 01 building and there is a more formal dining room further along.  The room is filled with cosy chairs and tables, couches and nooks to sit.  It is all wheelchair accessible and there is an accessible bathroom.  It is open for lunch and dinner(check site for hours) whereas their beautiful cellar door restaurant at Cambridge is only open for lunch.  The Lounge is a wonderful place to meet friends for a drink and a catch up!
